The Best Decade Of Music

THE BEST DECADE OF MUSIC

Rage Against the Machine’s Zac Del LA Roccha screaming with a fierce projection, ‘’Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me’’. Just by that song alone, the 90’s decade rules the roost.

Their political stick and guitar riffa-ramma style produced some monumental albums that continue to inspire todays generations of artists the world over. And it was guitarist Tom Morello that said ‘’the most powerful music is music with purpose.’’ Yes, indeed! Covid-19 interrupted their worldwide tour, and still waiting for them to tour Australia.

One of the best albums the 90’s gave birth to Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden and their version of Grunge with detuned guitars and mopey tempos and Black Sabbath style riffs. Chris Cornell bearing his sexy chest, was the singer of his generation penning introspective lyrics, leaning on the darker & morbid side of life, in the song Outshined, spawned Cornell’s most famous lines, ‘’Looking California feeling Minnesota’’.  Lyrical genius!

I had seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers live 5 times and i’m happy to report that the bands live interplay is exciting as it is exceptional. The songs lead into extended jams and you know it’s the best party in town. Blood Sugar Sex Magic was a truly special blend of funk psychedelic rock songs and Fleas best written bass lines to date. Now with John Fruscante back in the fold, I’m looking forward to seeing them live again.

Nirvana burst on the scene and produced the explosive album, Nevermind in 1991. Armed with fragile and powerful songs that changed the landscape of music, Kurt Cobain became the spokesperson for his generation and what I loved personally about Cobain, was his willingness to explore the darkest side of human nature.
