Daisy Jones & The Six

Daisy Jones & The Six

The book Daisy Jones & The Six was a gift from a friend for my birthday with a message: Dom this is so YOU!

Formatted as an extended oral history, Daisy Jones and the Six delves into the world of ROCK&ROLL in the iconic 1970s: a love story where sex, love, music meets laughter, sadness, pain, ego, talent, ambition, drugs, and is washed down with everything in between.

This is the story of how Daisy Jones comes to join The Six, where they create one of the biggest rock albums of the late 70s.

What I love most about this novel is the author lets each band member tell their side of the unrestrained story and it’s pieced together into a riveting narrative. I was absolutely captivated.

Talented and sexy, Daisy Jones comes from wealth and privilege and has never really worked for anything in her life, it has always been handed to her. And there’s Billy Dunne, the lead singer of The Six, who battles his demons but his love for his wife, Camilla and his kids is unparalleled.

There’s one thing Daisy Jones is willing to fight for and that’s the creative freedom to become a respected singer-songwriter in her own right. And goes head to head with Billy to prove that she has the song writing chops needed to equal his formidable talent.

Billy’s musical talent and front man appeal is granted and a sensation with the ladies as he leads his band into rock stardom territory with the help of salacious, Daisy Jones.

The songs have a raw power and vulnerable quality that wields the fans into their world and like me, swallow their ROCK&ROLL stories whole.

The sexual attraction between Daisy and Billy is evident and the relationship builds as they both fight for equal song-writing bill and the result is lyrical songs that epitomise the surreal, beauty, sexiness, intrigue, and danger of life experiences.

This book is a refreshing take on the fiction and once you start reading – you will be obsessed.

I am yet to see the see the series on Prime Video, the question is, will I like the changes made for creative purposes?
